Accessibility doesn't have to mean boring. Creating attractive accessible sites that still use images, styled and interactive content. We will address the needs of web designers/developers to create a site that meets or exceeds WAI Single A Compliance and §508 of the Rehabilitation Act.
For those sites that are not under a legal requirement to be accessible there are important usability improvements in an accessible site that can increase the effectiveness of a website.
While this course will primarily address Accessibility requirements in the United States this class will not be limited to those in the UK but will include information on the meeting the accessibility requirements of the Canada, the United Kingdom, European Union and Australia as well. Since most of the countries that have accessibility requirements reference or model their legislation on WAI or WCAG guidelines no matter what country you are in this course will assist you in creating a site that meets Level A and AA compliance standards.
Joe Clark's book will be required reading in the class. The book is available at Amazon, your favorite local bookseller or can be read online free at Joe Clark's site. While it maybe tempting to just read the book online to get the most out of it having the physical book is recommended.
This class is offered 2-4 times a year, if you wish to be notified when enrollment for this class opens, please send an email to registrar@starttoweb.com
